Rutt’s Ruskin Cabinetry Line
Do you need new cabinetry for your home? In August 2013, Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry revealed their new cabinet series, called Ruskin. This new line was designed by talented designer Scott A. Stultz and instead of emphasizing current contemporary styling, it makes traditional styling more unique.
In fact, Ruskin cabinetry is versatile and not just limited to one style. According to Stultz, “Ruskin is…transitional; it is classical, it is arts & crafts, and can lean pretty hard towards contemporary when appointed with other contemporary details.”
About Ruskin Cabinetry
Background
Ruskin cabinets are inspired by John Ruskin, who was an art and architecture scholar, writer, and critic in the second half of the 19th century. He influenced the Arts & Crafts movement as well as the rise of Modernism.
Cabinet Details
The basic elements of Ruskin include columns, framed panels, details, layering, and movement. Ruskin cabinets reflect that—they have:
- A detailed face frame
- Steep slope angles
- Mullion doors with narrow vertical and wider horizontal members
- Dynamically proportioned door custom end panels
- Smooth, elegant faceted columns rather than turned corner posts
All of these features combine to form a unifying, graceful, enriched effect.
Rutt is pleased with the new cabinetry line and believes it enhances their foundation of timeless and original designs.
