Cabinetry: Should You Replace or Reface?

Posted on: December 11, 2012

Look around your kitchen. Does anything stand out? Is there anything you want to change? Many people say the countertops, flooring, and/or cabinets. This is no surprise, considering these are the major design elements in kitchens, particularly the cabinets.

Cabinetry is an important part of the kitchen; it can enhance a space—and just as easily take away from it. If you want new cabinets, you have a couple different options: refacing or kitchen remodeling (and cabinet replacement).

Cabinet Refacing

Cabinet refacing is ideal if you like the footprint of your kitchen and are happy with the countertops, appliances, etc. Also known as cabinet facelifting, refacing is the process of replacing just the doors and drawer fronts of your cabinets. The existing doors and drawer fronts are removed and replaced with new ones, but the cabinet boxes are left in place, and the face frames and finished ends are usually wrapped with matching wood veneer. In a day or two, you can get a whole new look for your kitchen.

Jack Rosen doesn’t do the actual refacing, but if you want help deciding on a cabinet front that will complement the style of your kitchen, our expert designers can assist you.

Cabinet Replacement & Kitchen Remodeling

If you want to change more than just the cabinets, full replacement and kitchen remodeling is a cost-effective option. Jack Rosen can help you choose the right custom cabinetry for your home. We offer three lines of cabinetry— Elmwood and Rutt—to accommodate every need. The cabinets we offer are good not only for kitchens but also for:
