How to Choose Cabinets: Part 1
Do you need new cabinetry? No matter the space—kitchen, bathroom, basement, front hall, or anywhere else—great cabinetry can make a significant difference and enhance the overall aesthetic of your home’s interior.
However, not every home is the same, and cabinets that work in one may not look as good in another. So how do you go about choosing the right cabinetry?
Choose Cabinets
Kitchen design and cabinetry professionals (like the ones at Jack Rosen Custom Kitchens) can always help, but in general, there are some guides you can follow to get the best cabinets for your space!
Space
What room do you need cabinets for? Do you need kitchen cabinets? Bathroom vanity cabinets? Perhaps cabinetry for a wet bar and entertainment area? The space can help you determine what materials and door styles you want. For instance, if you need new kitchen cabinets, you may want a material that is more durable and easy to clean. If you have wine bottles and items you want to display above a bar in the basement, you need glass front cabinetry.
Style
What is the style of the space you need cabinetry for? This is also important when it comes to choosing cabinets. For example, if you have a contemporary kitchen, ornate cabinets with raised panel doors wouldn’t look as authentic as simpler, more minimalist style cabinets.
Priorities
What are your personal priorities? Do you value maintenance the most? Do you want environmentally friendly cabinetry? Is the look of the cabinetry the most important to you? Once you figure out what you value the most, it’ll be easier to narrow down the choices.
Bigger Picture
When you’re choosing cabinets, it can also be helpful to think about the long term. Are you moving in a year or two? If so, you may want to stick with neutral because although you may really want cherry red cabinets, those aren’t going to help raise the resale value of your home the way neutral cabinets would.
